About All-on-6 Dental Implant

The All-on-6 technique is specifically designed to use only six implants that are available for immediate function. All-on-6 implants do not typically require bone grafting, so they are an ideal solution for patients with areas of low bone density or volume.

All-on-6 dental implants is just a variation of the all-on-four technique based on the same concept, with the only difference that 6 front implants are used instead of four. Many dental implant dentists prefer the ‘all-on-6’ option because it is safer (a restoration can be placed even if one of the implants fails).

Before the Dental Procedure

Before receiving All-on-6, the patient needs to have enough bone to support the implants. If there is not enough bone, then a bone graft is needed.

During the Implant Procedure

In the first stage of All-on-6, the dental implants are placed into the jawbone. A provisional prosthesis can be attached straight away. Finally, once the implants have healed, a permanent solution such as a dental bridge or removable overdenture can be attached.

Local anesthetic.

Procedure duration

The All-on-6 takes 2 to 4 hours.

After the All-on-6 Procedure

Post procedure care

In the first 3 months following the procedure, the mouth will be healing and the bone and gums changing shape to adapt to the new fixture. In this time patients should exercise caution eating hard or very chewy foods.

Possible discomfort

Patients should expect considerable discomfort and swelling after the procedure. For most, the worst of the pain subsides after a week.
